Vitalife -Jody

This Is Me

Jody M., Poo Guru and client care specialist since 1992.  I own and operate Vitalife Clinic in Toronto’s “Beach” neighbourhood.  A neighbourhood I love for its’ peacefulness, beach culture, and famous boardwalk.  The perfect place for a (colonic) colon hydrotherapy session!

I am a certified in colon therapist and a personal user of colonics (colon hydrotherapy) since 1984. I love what I do with great passion, and I am fortunate to have clients who trust me with their long-term wellness goals.  When I see a client getting results from their treatments… I know I’m doing exactly what I was meant to do.

My Story

I was born with an extra long small intestine. This triggered poor elimination (or chronic constipation) and I lived on oral laxatives and anal suppositories from infancy through my teens. Can you say chronic bloating, constipation, back pain, anxiety? I thought this was normal. No one, not even my GP or any GI Specialist EVER spoke to me about how food could have changed everything for me right there and then.

In my late teens – I was introduced to colon cleanses (colonics).  Colonics quickly became a part of my life!  By adding colonics to my routine, I was able to start managing this chronic pain, constant discomfort, and get off the laxatives.  Little did I know, years later, I would learn how to incorporate colonics as part of a regular routine, and not just when I had an emergency.

My First Colonic

Like most people, I was nervous about my first session.  I didn’t really know what to expect but was happy to find it was not so bad at all.

My first couple of sessions were not all that successful. My therapist convinced me to keep going as she said “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.  I laughed! By the time I finished my third session, I really started to see results and felt quite energized.  Patience is key here. Most people need more than one session when they start the process. It takes time to hydrate the colon tissue and soften old fecal matter. Our colons are just giant garbage cans and you know what that’s like… trying to rinse out the bottom and sides generally takes time.

Fast forward 3 decades

At the beginning of 2019, following numerous life changes, work stressors, and the death of my father, I had a physical exam that revealed my health was on a downward spiral.

I had put on 40 lbs., my cholesterol was peaking, I was diagnosed with early stage fatty liver, a pretty bad chronic case of gout, asthma, and I wasn’t pooping much at all!  In fact, I wasn’t feeling anything but inflammation and pain. My body was sending me some loud messages, and I wasn’t listening.

Vitalife Clinic

October 2018 – Having purchased Vitalife (Digestive Health Clinic) – I thought it was important to set an example for my clients, so I started my own journey back to better health.

The Journey

February 2019 – To kickstart my journey, I did a series of colonics (2-4 per week) over a 6 week period, I changed my eating habits focussing on whole foods, removing fried, processed, refined and sugar laden foods. I decreased my strength building exercises and increased my cardio to a moderate level of daily walking (approx 10K steps). Cut out my daily intake of alcohol, and started juicing with massive amounts of fruits and vegetables 1-2 days a week. Juicing allows your digestive system to take a break, letting it clear all the way before you over stuff it with food again. Important to note here, that I also changed my dinner plate to a side plate to monitor my intake. Afterall, your stomach is only the size of your fist! No one ever told me that either.

Before and After

6 months later , I decided to do an Enzymatic Intestinal Cleanse called Zencleanz ONE. This cleanse was so powerful, that after the initial die-off period (for me) of about 3 months, (another story for another time) my internal health moved to a new level. I wish I had taken better care to document my journey, but with COVID swirling around us and clouding up our minds, I didn’t even think about the impact that could have had on my story.

Nearly 3 years later, 4 intestinal cleanses, 3 liver cleanses, I had taken off 40 lbs., pain and inflammation mostly gone, no more gout, a new toe nail… seriously!

NOT an easy road, but, I am enjoying a healthier life than ever before. My cholesterol is the best it’s been in 20 years and my fatty liver is no longer an issue. I’m going #2 all on my own every day of the week!  No, I’m not shy about saying this, because NOT pooping is where this all started.

Today, colon cleanses, enemas, and home kits, a concentration on whole foods, probiotics, fiber, and daily activities keeps me on track.  I won’t lie to you, I like to have a good time. I like to travel and head out for a nice dinner, I drink some wine and I even order a dessert now and then. What? Yes. But, I keep these choices to a minimum and consider them rewards for practising good habits most of the time. And I’ll tell you this… since I’ve made these changes, my body no longer craves the things that made it difficult in the beginning of the journey. Nothing goes in my mouth now without me taking a good look at its’ value to my health.

What’s happening now?

Well, when people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them I own a digestive health clinic. Basically, I clean colons with a focus on total digestive health. As one would expect, I get mixed reactions, but most people are intrigued.

I get asked a question or two about a health or a digestive issue they are personally struggling with and then they tend to make a joke of some kind – or ask how to book an appointment.

A little family history…

My father was diagnosed in his mid-50’s with colorectal cancer. For the next 20 years he struggled with major health issues from fallout of his initial diagnosis and treatments – from diabetes, to other cancers like skin and stomach, and finally kidney dialysis and failure – which ultimately took his life in the fall of 2017.

I can’t imagine not looking after my colon for as long as I am able to.  It is my strong belief that many, if not most illnesses start in the colon.  Certainly, for my dad, this was true.

Putting family history aside… even if you don’t have a history of illness in your family, I always recommend regular medical exams and request a colonoscopy no later than age 40. There is a recent rise in colorectal cancers for people age 35 +. Preventative maintenance is key!

Colon cleansing treatments have been life-changing for me, and they can be for you too. Check in with us for a quick chat or book an appointment online.
